Your save files and account IDs stay in your browser. Read how BL Save Editor processes files locally, handles downloads and uses website resources.

Your save stays in your browser

BL Save Editor processes save files and account IDs locally in your browser. It reads only the file you choose or drop into the editor. It does not browse your game folder, upload your file, or send decrypted contents and edited values to a server.

Borderlands 4 uses the owning Steam ID or Epic Account ID to derive the file's encryption key locally. Borderlands 2 and Borderlands 3 PC imports do not need an account ID. The editor has no Steam or Epic sign-in and does not ask for an account password.

Website requests and cookies

Opening a page downloads this site's HTML, scripts, styles, images and other static resources. Importing a save loads the editor's processing resources as needed. Your save bytes, filename and account ID are not added to those resource URLs.

The live website uses Google Analytics to measure page visits, traffic sources and engagement. Google Analytics uses cookies and receives browsing information such as the page address and title, referring website, browser and device information. Page addresses and referrers sent by the site exclude query parameters and URL fragments. Advertising signals and ad personalization are disabled. Automatic form, search, outbound-link and file-download tracking are disabled.

Save files, filenames, Steam and Epic IDs, decrypted contents and edited values are not sent to Google Analytics. The editor does not use a third-party decryption service or store saves, IDs or edit history in localStorage or IndexedDB. Your browser may cache ordinary website resources. The hosting server receives normal request information, such as the requested page, IP address and browser user agent.

You can block Google Analytics with your browser's privacy controls or an extension. The editor continues to work when analytics is blocked.

Session data and downloads

The imported file, draft values and edit history stay in the current page session. Keep the page open until you have downloaded the result and original backup you need. Refreshing, leaving or closing the page ends the editing session; return by importing the file again.

Original backups and edited saves are created as local browser downloads. Downloaded files remain on your device according to your browser and operating-system settings. Undo, Reset or closing the editor does not delete those files or restore a live save on disk.

Links to Steam, Epic, project repositories and support pages open external websites with their own privacy policies. These links do not include your save or account ID. Share a save file only when you deliberately choose to provide it to someone.

Use an independent folder backup before editing and check where your browser saved each download. Read how to edit Borderlands saves safely for backup and replacement steps, and supported features to choose the editor for your file.
