BL4 Serial Decoder

Convert BL4 item codes and compare damage per second in your browser.

Decode and edit BL4 item serials

Paste a Base85 code to inspect its level, manufacturer and parts. Choose parts for the same item category and keep a backup before replacing equipment.

BL4 item code converter and DPS calculator

Convert a pasted BL4 item code between its Base85 and token text forms, or calculate DPS from values you enter. These text tools run locally and do not edit a save file.

BL4 item code converter

Choose the format explicitly. Base85 accepts up to 5,122 characters; token text accepts up to 131,072 characters. Spaces and original text are preserved, so paste the exact code.

DPS calculator

Enter damage per projectile and projectile count separately. The calculation uses your manual inputs; item-code conversion does not supply weapon statistics.

Decimal fields accept up to six decimal places. Counts are positive whole numbers. Use digits without commas, spaces, exponents or leading zeros.

Zero allowed · Maximum: 1000000000

Positive whole number · Maximum: 10000

Greater than zero · Maximum: 1000

Positive whole number · Maximum: 1000000

Positive whole number · Maximum: 1000000

Zero allowed · Maximum: 3600

The model assumes a constant trigger rate and that every projectile hits. It includes one reload after N = floor(magazine ammo / ammo per trigger) trigger pulls. Firing time is N / r, so cycle time is N / r + reload seconds.

First-shot timing, burst delays, animations, damage multipliers, elemental effects, critical hits and other game mechanics are outside this model. Results are arithmetic estimates, rounded to six decimal places. Use the result to compare inputs with the same assumptions.

Use the BL4 serial decoder to inspect a Borderlands 4 item code, change its level or replace an existing part, and copy the encoded result. Paste one complete Base85 serial to see its available name, type, manufacturer, level and part details. The tools run locally in your browser and require no save file or account ID.

Decode a BL4 item serial

Paste the code into BL4 item serial and choose Decode serial. BL4 codes commonly begin @Ug and include punctuation; copy every character exactly. The decoded panel shows the item's level and available identity details, followed by its existing parts.

Keep a copy of the original serial before editing. A serial describes one item, including its encoded level and parts. Character currency, skills, mission progress and shared profile data belong to save files rather than this code.

For a collection you can browse and copy, open the Borderlands 4 item code directory. It includes 112 serial builds of 20 named designs, with scope, grip and level variants labeled clearly.

Change the item level and encode a BL4 serial

Enter a whole number from 1–70 in New item level, then choose Encode item level. The code box updates with the encoded result and the details show the new level. Choose Copy encoded serial to keep the edited code.

Item level is separate from character level. Choose equipment suited to your character and installed game's progression. Editing a code here does not put the item in a backpack.

Use the BL4 save editor to add the resulting code to a character backpack or profile bank. The same serial controls are available in that editor's Advanced tab, where Preview this item in save prepares an inventory change for review.

Choose replacement parts

The part-name dictionaries cover 176 item categories. Decode the serial to load the dictionary for its category, then select an existing entry under Part to change. Pick its replacement under Replacement part and choose Encode part replacement.

Use parts belonging to the decoded item's category. Keep the original serial when comparing scopes, grips, barrels or other parts, and change one entry at a time. The selector replaces an existing reference; adding an item to a save is a separate inventory operation.

An unnamed part displays its numeric identifier. Keep it with the original code. Review the updated list after encoding and copy the complete resulting serial.

Convert Base85 and readable token text

The converter below accepts either BL4 Base85 code or BL4-TOKENS/1 text. Select the input format, paste the complete document and choose Convert code to display both representations. Copy either output or download it as a .txt file. Download original text keeps exactly what you pasted into the converter.

Use Base85 when importing into an inventory serial field. BL4-TOKENS/1 is this site's readable representation of the item tokens. An equivalent Base85 spelling can become canonical during conversion while retaining the same item bytes.

BL2 and BL3 use different code formats. Open the Borderlands 2 save editor for BL2(...) codes or the Borderlands 3 save editor for BL3(...) codes.

Add the encoded item to your save

Import the matching character or profile into the BL4 editor, download its original backup, and paste the encoded Base85 serial into Add items. Review the inventory preview before applying and downloading the edited save. The standalone decoder's output is an item code, not a .sav file.

Close the game before replacing local saves and keep each file's original name. The BL4 save location guide identifies character and profile paths. Follow the save-editing tutorial for backups, cloud synchronization and restoration, and check supported features for the controls available in each game.

DPS calculator

Enter damage per projectile, projectiles per trigger pull, trigger pulls per second, magazine ammunition, ammunition consumed per trigger pull and reload time. The calculator uses these manual values; decoding a serial does not supply weapon statistics.

Firing DPS multiplies damage per projectile by projectile count and trigger rate. Sustained DPS includes one reload after the magazine's whole number of trigger pulls, dividing total magazine damage by firing time plus reload time.

Compare weapons using the same assumptions. The calculation assumes every projectile hits at the entered rate. Account separately for critical hits, elemental damage, bonuses, burst timing and other build effects.

BL4 serial decoder FAQ

Can I change an item's level here?

Yes. Decode its Base85 serial, enter an item level from 1–70 and choose Encode item level. Copy the resulting code for your inventory edit.

Can I replace a weapon part?

Yes. Decode the item, select an existing part and choose a replacement from its category dictionary. Encode the replacement and retain the original code.

Does decoding add the item to my save?

No. Import a character or profile into the BL4 save editor and add the encoded Base85 code to its backpack or bank.

Which code should I paste into an inventory field?

Use the complete Base85 serial. BL4-TOKENS/1 is the readable token-text format used by the converter.

Is this serial decoder free?

Yes. Decoding, item-level and part editing, text conversion and the manual DPS calculator are free and run in your browser.

Does the DPS calculator read weapon stats from the serial?

No. Enter weapon values manually to compare firing DPS and damage across the firing-and-reload cycle.
