What this BL2 save editor can change

Edit a Borderlands 2 PC character save online without installing a desktop application. Import your .sav, choose the level cap that matches your DLC, review the character, and download an edited copy. BL2 does not need a Steam ID, Epic ID or account login.

AreaAvailable edits
CharacterMoney, level, XP, remaining skill points and Overpower level
CurrenciesExisting Eridium, Seraph Crystals and Torgue Tokens
EquipmentAdd or delete Gibbed BL2 codes in backpack or bank; single and batch item levels
UnlocksTVHM, UVHM, ammunition, backpack and bank SDUs
ProfileGolden Keys and existing shared-stash slot replacement in profile.bin
RecoveryOriginal backup download, previews, Undo and Reset

Money, Eridium, Seraph Crystals and Torgue Tokens are separate resources. Choose the balance you want to change rather than putting one type of currency into another field. Seraph Crystals and Torgue Tokens relate to their respective DLC content; a save edit does not install that content or grant a DLC license.

Level and XP are linked. Setting the level can adjust XP into that level's interval, while an XP edit derives the corresponding level. Read both values in the preview before applying. Choose the installed level cap first so the editor uses the progression range appropriate to your game.

Remaining skill points are the points still available to allocate. Changing that balance keeps the points already invested in skills. A different unspent total does not rearrange your skill trees. If you want to rebuild the character, keep a backup of the existing build and plan the skills separately from the level change.

How to edit a Borderlands 2 save online

  1. Close the game and make a backup. Let current Steam synchronization finish, then copy your account's SaveData folder to a separate location. Include all character .sav files and profile.bin.

  2. Choose the correct cap and import. Select 50, 61, 72 or 80 according to your DLC. Choose the character file, import it in the editor above, and check the displayed character and values. No account ID is required.

  3. Preview your edit. Enter the money, level, XP, points or equipment change you need. Read the before-and-after summary and apply it. Use Undo to step back or Reset to discard the current session's edits.

  4. Download and replace. Download the edited .sav, keep its untouched original, and replace the matching character file with the game closed. Keep the original filename in the live folder.

The website creates a download; it does not automatically write over your live character. Your browser may save the edited file in Downloads or add a suffix to its name. Confirm the filename before copying it back to SaveData. The Borderlands backup and edit tutorial gives the full restore workflow.

Use Gibbed-style BL2 item codes

Borderlands 2 community item codes use Gibbed's BL2(...) format. Copy the entire code, including its prefix and closing parenthesis. Avoid copying quotation marks or losing characters when a message wraps a long code onto another line. BL3 and BL4 serials use different formats.

Open Inventory and choose the backpack or character bank. Paste one or several codes into Add items, with one code per line, then preview the new entries. You can add both weapon and equipment codes without replacing an existing item. Copy an existing entry's code when you want to share or keep that item separately.

Choose an item for a single level adjustment or apply a batch level to the inventory. The item-level operation synchronizes the item's level values. Use a level that fits your character and installed progression, including its OP setup. Deleting an entry removes that selected item from the saved inventory.

A character's bank and the shared stash are different stores. The character bank belongs to the numbered .sav; shared stash data belongs to profile.bin. Keep both files when backing up an equipment collection, and retain the whole character before changing its inventory.

Import profile.bin to inspect its four shared-stash slots. In Inventory, select an existing populated slot, paste a complete replacement BL2(...) code, and preview the change. This replaces that slot's item while keeping the other stash entries and profile data. Use the character file when adding items to its separate bank.

Level caps and DLC: 50, 61, 72 and 80

Borderlands 2's level cap depends on installed content. The cap selector offers the four main PC progression ranges so you can match the editor to your game. Pick the range for the copy of BL2 you will actually launch, especially if you move saves between computers with different DLC installed.

Level capContent requirement
50Base game progression
61Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack
72Both Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Packs
80Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary, with the earlier level-cap upgrades

The editor does not inspect your installed DLC. Choose the cap deliberately before importing. Keep the character and equipment within the progression available in that installation rather than selecting 80 just because it is the largest option.

Level and total XP should describe the same stage of progression. When you set a level, inspect the linked XP result; when you enter XP, inspect the derived level. Lowering a character can leave it carrying equipment intended for a higher level, so check Inventory as part of any downgrade.

A level increase is separate from playthrough progression. Reaching 50, 61, 72 or 80 does not by itself complete story missions or select a new playthrough. Keep the cap, level, item levels and story state distinct when planning the change you want.

Overpower levels

Set Overpower level in the character controls to unlock OP progression up to OP10. The OP value is separate from the ordinary character level and is stored with the save's expansion data. Setting a higher ordinary level is not a substitute for an OP setting.

Choose the OP setup appropriate to your installed DLC and character. Review your equipment levels as well as the character level before applying it. Keep the original file if you want to return to a build intended for an earlier level-cap setup.

Golden Keys, SDUs and UVHM

Import profile.bin to set Golden Keys from 0–255. Preview the new balance, apply it and download the profile. Keys are shared profile data; a character's money or Eridium field does not grant them. Keep the original profile before changing the count.

The TVHM and UVHM presets unlock their respective playthrough progression. They do not complete every story mission or set the character's level. Choose the playthrough you want, then use the ordinary level, XP and equipment controls to prepare the build.

The SDU preset upgrades ammunition, backpack and character bank storage. All unlocks combines the playthrough and SDU presets. Check the resulting capacities alongside your inventory and retain a whole-folder backup.

For fast travel, enter an exact teleporter ID when adding a specific destination. Keep existing visited locations in place. The editor does not include a preset listing every BL2 destination.

Where are Borderlands 2 save files?

The normal Windows location is C:\Users\<Windows-user>\Documents\My Games\Borderlands 2\WillowGame\SaveData\<account-folder>\. Numbered character files are usually named Save0001.sav, Save0002.sav and so on. The same account folder contains profile.bin.

Open Documents through File Explorer if it is redirected to OneDrive or another drive. The game installation folder is usually not the live character-save location. When several account folders exist, check the imported character summary rather than guessing from a folder number alone.

Use the Borderlands 2 save file location guide for full paths, missing files, character-slot selection and restoration. Keep the original filename recorded before editing so the finished download returns to the intended slot.

An online alternative to Gibbed's editor

Gibbed's Borderlands 2 editor is a Windows desktop application. This web editor gives you a browser workflow for PC save files, with no installation step and no website login. Open it on a computer browser, choose the file, make the edit and download the result.

A browser on macOS or Linux can edit a copied supported PC file. That does not make every game's platform container the same format: choose the PC save you intend to use, and keep the correct game's folder and filenames when moving files back. Use the Gibbed project if you want its desktop interface.

Your save remains local during editing. Read privacy for session storage and resource requests, and keep a folder backup before replacing files.

Borderlands 2 save editor FAQ

Do I need a Steam ID for BL2?

No. Import a supported BL2 PC save directly. The account number in the save folder does not need to be entered into this editor.

Can I use Gibbed item codes?

Yes. Paste complete BL2(...) codes into Add items to add weapons or equipment to your backpack or character bank. You can also copy existing item codes from Inventory.

What level cap should I pick?

Choose 50 for the base game, 61 with the first Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack, 72 with both packs, or 80 with the required level upgrades and Commander Lilith DLC.

Does it work with Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel?

Choose this editor for Borderlands 2 files. The Pre-Sequel uses a related but separate save format and is not supported by this BL2 import flow.

Can I edit PS3 or Xbox 360 saves?

This editor accepts BL2 PC saves. PS3 and Xbox 360 save containers need platform-specific handling and cannot be imported as ordinary PC files.

Is the BL2 save editor free?

Yes. Character editing, previews and original backup downloads are free and run in your browser without a desktop installation.
